Practice the Presence of God

God is always with us. We just need to be more aware of His presence.

When we practice the presence of God we simply attempting to be more aware of God’s presence with us throughout the day. This simple practice is truly transformational when we live it. Brother Lawrence, a 17th century French monk, was known for his joy and peace even while working in the kitchen at a monastery cleaning dishes. When asked how he had so much joy he would always point to his practice of the presence of God.

To Get Started

  1. Set an alarm on your phone to pause a couple of times during the day to remember God is with you.
  2. Before your day begins pray through your calendar.
  3. Imagine Jesus is with you in the various settings you find yourself in.
  4. At the end of the day practice the prayer of Examine and reflect on when you were most aware of God’s presence throughout your day and when you weren’t.
