In the Apostles’ Creed we find the foundational beliefs of our faith.
Memorizing the Apostles’ Creed is a great way to learn some of the basic, essential beliefs of the Christian faith. When you’re asked, “What do you believe?” The creed gives you an answer.
This version of the Apostle’s Creed is called the Old Roman Creed. It’s the earliest recorded creed that we have from the church. (found in Bettenson, Henry; Maunder, Chris. Documents of the Christian Church (p. 25). OUP Oxford. Kindle Edition.)
As a practice I’d encourage you to memorize the creed and recite it often.
Apostles CreedI believe in God Almighty And in Christ Jesus, his only Son, our Lord Who was born of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary Who was crucified under Pontius Pilate and was buried And the third day rose from the dead Who ascended into heaven And sits at the right hand of the Father From there He will come to judge the living and the dead And in the Holy Spirit The holy church The remission of sins The resurrection of the flesh The life everlasting.
