Scripture calls us to encourage one another. When we encourage each other we are pointing one another to the true source of our strength—God himself. The biblical words for “encouragement” imply building up or strengthening.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 11 Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
Ephesians 4:29 29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Prophecy, hearing a message from God to communicate to the people of God, is meant to encourage the believers.
1 Corinthians 14:3 3 But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.
