Practice based for the next 2 weeks.
In church yesterday we heard some stories of God's faithfulness in people's lives. First, consider the importance of story in Scripture. The narrative genre makes up the largest portion of Scripture. The gospels are written in narrative. Through the story of the people of Israel, from the patriarchal promises to the Exodus, to the kingdom of Israel, God chose to reveal himself not just through teaching and instruction but through the real live stories of Abraham's descendants. Jesus incarnating and living among us is how God chose to bring the fullest revelation of himself. Again, it is through the story of Jesus, God in flesh, that we see who God is and what God is like. Stories are vitally important.
Your story is vitally important. Your story illustrates God at work in real life here and now. It isn't just God working in ancient history. Your story gives others a face and experiences to relate to and better understand the unseen God of the universe.
I love hearing people's stories. It's one of my favorite things about being a pastor.
Today, focus on the aspects of your story that demonstrate God's faithfulness. Spend some time thinking through how God has been faithful in your life. Maybe it was a difficult time or just an awareness of his presence when life was good. Maybe God's faithfulness came in the form of another person who encouraged you or helped you up at just the right time. Write down a few of those moments or seasons in your life where you really experienced God's faithfulness.
