Thursday Nov. 26: Private Worship—General worship

By now you've planned a time and a location. We've thought through how to silence our inner thoughts and how to focus on God's presence with us.

Next plan out how you are going to worship. Here's some general things to think about:

  1. What will you say? Here I find Scripture to be so helpful. I was going to include some verses here for you to reference, but I decided against it. If you don't know what to say here go exploring in Scripture and find some language to use.
    1. Tell God who he is. Tell him how awesome he is.
    2. Tell God what he has done in Scripture.
  2. Will you have music? I love to incorporate worship music in my private worship time. Of course when you are praying the worship songs will be a distraction so when you are praying maybe put on some relaxing, calm, classical or spa-type music that won't distract you from your prayer. This type of music actually helps me focus.
  3. Will you have you Bible? Remember you're Bible is not to be used for study here. Only use it better praise and worship him.

Psalm 8 TO THE CHOIRMASTER: ACCORDING TO THE GITTITH. A PSALM OF DAVID. 1 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. 2 Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. 3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? 5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. 6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, 7 all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, 8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas. 9 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
