Tuesday Nov 24: Private Worship—Schedule a Time and Place

Plan your time of private worship for this coming weekend or the following week. This week in the devotional you will planning out this time—when, where and what you want it to look like, so plan it for after you've had time to think through this.

Private worship is different than your devotions and quiet time. Remember Chuck defined private worship as "the obedient giving of adoration to God in an isolated location."

For today just put a time on the calendar and think of it like a meeting. If you're new to this schedule it for 15-30 minutes. If you're accustomed to this schedule an hour or a few hours. Remember this should be a time when you can eliminate distractions—put your phone on Do Not Disturb, other people in your house likely won't require your attention, your pets won't require your attention, idk. Think through as much as you can when would be a good time to practice private worship.

Also, think of where you will have this time of private worship. Obviously, a room with the TV on and your kids playing around you is not the place. Think of a place that brings you peace. It may be outside; it could be a quiet room in your house; it could be anywhere you feel at peace and have the ability to speak to God, sing or just sit in silence without making a scene or being overly distracted.

Psalm 27:4 4 One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple.
