Monday: Hills To Die On

This week the devotional will be following the Tough Topics conference. What we cover in the devotional will be supplementary to the previous night's topic. My plan is to post some Scripture references related to the topic the night before. If you missed the session the night before I'd encourage you to watch the video of that conversation for your devotional for that day.

Before we get started with the Tough Topics conference, I want us to think about what hills are worth dying on. As I talked about in the sermon yesterday, Paul's responses to the conflict in Rome and the conflict in Galatia varied greatly. If you missed the sermon yesterday be sure to watch the sermon. For the devotional today please review the notes from yesterday's sermon, which I've posted below.

Over the next 2 weeks we will be talking about some of the most often debated topics in Christian circles. Exploring these topics has the potential to strengthen your faith a great deal. However, these topics also have the potential to be divisive if we allow them to be.

For today spend some time reflecting on which theological hills are worth dying on and which are not. How have you generally approached these topics in the past? Do you tend towards being overly divisive or conflict avoidant? How can you explore these topics in a healthy way in community?
