Friday: Remember What He Has Done

This week we are going to give the mind a rest and simply focus on practicing the presence of God. Normally I'm an advocate for doing your devotions at any point during the day, but this week I think it would benefit you most to do your devotional time first thing in the morning as a reminder to reflect on the presence of God throughout your day.

Each morning I would recommend you read Psalm 139:1-12, as a reminder of God's presence in every moment. I will include the text each day. Then I encourage you to take at least 5-10 min each day in quiet prayer. This can be at any time of the day. For this quiet prayer time I will include a line from Psalm 105 for you to focus on.

Psalm 139:1–12

Psalm 105:5 5 Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he uttered

Today in your private prayer time think through the big story of Scripture. Remember all the amazing works God has done. Think of creation, the Exodus, Elijah calling down fire on Mt. Carmel, the Exile. Remember Jesus calming the storm, feeding the 5k, walking on water, rising from the dead. Think what it must have been like to see the lame man walk, lepers be healed, and the blind receive sight. Personalize it with the miracles you've seen in your life or the things God has done which you never thought possible. Ultimately remember that he has saved you.
