MONDAY
This week is following our calm week so we are doing practice-based devotionals. This week I’m going to ask you to journal a lot. Our campaign was titled The Life Revealed from 1 John 1:1-4. If the gospel is the life revealed then our whole life should be oriented around it. This orientation begins with our loves—our longings and our desires. So what is your heart’s compass oriented towards? This is a good question to begin the new year with. This should help guide you as you are reflecting on habits you want to develop, change or eliminate.
In his book, You Are What You Love James K. A. Smith writes, ”To be human is to be animated and oriented by some vision of the good life, some picture of what we think counts as ‘flourishing.’”

To begin this new year, write out some characteristics of what you would define as the good life.
